NEVER ENOUGH HORIZONTAL SPACE

I smile whenever think about inadvertently hogging the table, at workshops I used to take.

There would always be 2 people assigned to each long table. Gradually 'my space' would slowly take over most of the table, crowding out the person at the other end.

There never seems to be enough table top space here. I have a couple projects going at once right now and need more places to put things. Chairs. game table & even a garbage can are making it work but I'm still looking forward to that IKEA run!

STUDIO LIGHT

I am posting pictures to show where the natural light comes from in my windowless studio.

I turned the track lighting off and just used the natural light to shoot these photos.

My studio is a loft which over looks the great room. I have no windows but the room is light and airy.

There are 2 skylights over the studio space and 2 more in the great room. Windows in the great room also spill light into my space.

When I'm working up there I turn on the track lighting. All these light sources make my studio light and bright.

NEAT PILES OF COLOR

I've been going through every drawer, shelf & cabinet in my studio.

Reordering this space always helps to clear my head for the next art project.

Not sure what that will be, but going through all the 'stuff' is part of the process.

The fabric came off the shelves on the weekend & now it's all back in neat piles of color.

Maybe I'll make a quilt, an accordion book, a collage, paint on paper bags, another series of ?????? Ideas, ideas. I'll have to wait and see.

More to share about the artists working in the studio. Will return to tell more in a few days.

COLOR IN MY CLOSET

My studio was a mess after working on a project. This morning I took some time to clear off the tables, put materials away & generally reorganize. I can't think in the middle of a mess!

Put fabrics back in the IKEA storage unit. Thought you might like to see how I have it organized. I used to be a quilter. Not sure that is what I am anymore - though I don't think I will ever lose that label !!

MY SPACE

People are always curious about artist's studios. Here's mine & I love it. Table tops are spread with Sketchbook Project 2011. Furniture is mostly IKEA. High work table & ledges by my husband, Nelson, patron of the arts! Studio loft 1/2 wall overlooks great room, w/artist friend, Kathy Maghini's, collages from workshop posted 8/17.
