  1. Trust the process... that's a concept that I've learned works so well. Start working and the Spirit will lead you where you need to go.

Shaun McNiff wrote a book by that title, Trust the Process; an artist's guide to letting go. The wrote of "sustained movement and engagement from which new forms emerge". YES!
You've got me interested in making my own book about Snow. Maybe I'll do it, or I could choose Gray which is what I see out my window most of the winter.

  2. Blogger ate my last comment so I'll try again.

Trusting the process is my own mantra when I get stuck and have a hard time knowing what to do next. Shaun McNiff wrote an excellent book, "Trust the Process; An Artist's Guide to Letting Go". He says "the experienced creator knows the importance of sustained movement and engagement from which new forms emerge". YES! Just start and keep going. He also said "Images emerge from one another and build upon their predecessors". That's what you're doing with your "Snow" series and with the Story Ropes.
Now you have me thinking that I'd like to do my own "Snow" book, or maybe mine should be "Gray" since that's the color of the sky most of the time in the Oregon winter.

  3. Jo-I love that book. I got it years ago. I've read and re-read it-absorbrd it for myself and challenged students with used it in teaching. Emmanation! Yes-been practicing/teaching that for years! My copy of Trust the Process is highlighted, underlined, and dog-eared and I'm sure I'll read it again. So neat to know you've gotten a lot out of it too!
Love your idea of gray days!
